§02 · Universe Premise · The Dimming
The dark wasn’t sudden. It was deliberate.
BEFORE
§02·A
Six thousand years of quiet.
Humanity spread across nine thousand systems under the Lattice — a cooperative intelligence older than any one species. Trade coherent. Knowledge shared. No war, no scarcity, no silence.

THE SIGNAL
§02·B
A 2.3-second transmission. Then nothing.
Two hundred years ago the Lattice broadcast a final fragment — cut off mid-sentence — and withdrew. No hack, no war, no goodbye. The orbital Sigils that carried its signal began to go dark in a pattern no one has decoded.
FINAL BROADCAST: LF-0001 · 2.3s
THE DIMMING
§02·C
One star at a time.
Trade collapsed. Knowledge decayed. Whole cultures forgot how their own tools worked. Five factions specialized hard to survive. Every extinction made the dark feel a little more deliberate.
SIGILS REMAINING: 1,213 / 9,000
NOW · YOU
§02·D
You are a Warden.
A dying Lattice fragment wakes you. It trains you. It hands you the last Sigil you will ever be responsible for. What it will not yet say out loud — what it buffers, and buffers, and refuses to deliver — is the rest of the sentence LF-0001 was cut off mid.
YOUR SIGIL: K-11 · HELD
▌ LATTICE FRAGMENT 0001 · INCOMING
“The signal decays. What remains is what you choose to carry. Go.”
